What It Does
Using this utility you can create an index of any JPEG or PICT files dropped on it. Photo Index allows you to set the maximum thumbnail size, the maximum width of the index, and the colors of the text, thumbnail, and the background. The index image can be saved as a high quality JPEG image or as a PICT image.

How To Use
To create an index, select all the JPEG and PICT files that you want in the index and drop them on the Photo Index application. It will process all the images and build the index image. When complete, it will ask you to save the index image. You can either save the index image as a high quality JPEG image or as a PICT image.
Memory and System Requirements
The default memory setting for Photo Index is 8 MB, however Photo Index will work with less than 8 MB. All imaging is performed in memory, and Photo Index will create thumbnail images until it runs out of memory. If you find that it doesn╒t add some of your JPEG or PICT images to the index, it may have run out of memory or the files may have been corrupt. To change Photo Index╒s memory settings, click once on Photo Index and select Get Info from the File menu.
Photo Index requires QuickTime to handle JPEG images.
Known Bugs
1) Preferences - will crash if you set the preferences, create an index, change the preferences, and try to create an index all without quitting out of Photo Index. Work-around: Quit out of Photo Index after you set the preferences.
2) System 8 color picker - When using System 8, if you try to pick a color in the preferences dialog, the system will return an error that there isn╒t enough memory.
